Food for Thought : Pageants Priests and Purgatory
When people think of Guilds, they usually associate them with craft or trade. Yet the vast majority of medieval Guilds were religious and charitable institutions. This talk by Jane Gosling, former Manager of Lavenham Guildhall, puts them into the context of the day, and looks at their history and the fine buildings they erected, as well as their ultimate downfall at the hands of Edward VI.
The Guildhall has high thresholds but a ramp is available.
