Lavenham Classics Motor Show
Sunday 26th August 2018
Lavenham Recreation ground
This August Bank Holiday Sunday sees the return of the popular village Classic Car Show.
Held on the Recreation Ground [accessed off Bridge Street Road] and open to visitors from 11.00am to 4.00pm, this year’s event is focussed on delivering a traditional family day out with the added benefit of seeing a great and diverse mix of classic cars – and some classic motorcycles.
Entry is free to visitors however a contribution to this year’s chosen charity, the East Anglia Air Ambulance Service, is encouraged.
The event started in its present format, titled “Lavenham Classics”, last year following on from the long running (and very popular) Rare Breeds Motor Show that had been held for many years in conjunction with the Lavenham Carnival. Regrettably, due to ever increasing health & safety regulations and declining volunteer numbers the Carnival, along with the Rare Breeds Motor Show was held for the last time in 2016.
The Carnival, alas, is no more but village resident and well known classic car enthusiast Bruce Goddard stepped forward to promote a stand alone classic car event with a greater focus as a village attraction rather than as an event just for exhibitors.
This year sees an increased number of, local, food and drink outlets including Gourmet Baguettes, Café NiNi cream teas, Number 10 Bar, Nethergate Brewery, Good Food Army Ice Creams and M&Ms Hot Dogs. There will be a number of motor services suppliers including GB Oils, Roach Classics and Norfolk Car Valeting.
Visitors to Lavenham are encouraged to come along to this additional attraction and visitors to Lavenham Classics are encouraged to sample the delights of Lavenham Village!
The event is held on behalf of the Lavenham Community Council, a registered charity, that raises funds for various village causes and which last year benefited from Lavenham Classics by £1,312. For this year half of all profits made will go to the East Anglia Air Ambulance Service, the remainder for the benefit of the Lavenham Community Council.
A fabulous event for lovers of classic cars and vehicles.
This year we will have food, drink and ice cream stands as well as a pop-up bar
With all profits from the event going to local charities, this year we will be donating half of all profits to the East Anglian Air Ambulance with the remainder for distribution via the Lavenham Community Council.
