Lavenham Parish Council is the first tier of elected representation in local government.  Members are usually elected for a four year term and occasionally, when a vacancy occurs mid-term, a new member may be co-opted by the Council.

LPC provides a range of services including the management of the two car parks and public toilets, the First Meadow play and picnic area, the Lavenham Walk, street cleaning and lighting. It also supports a raft of village activities from the Woodland Project to the Literary Festival.

It has put in place a Neighbourhood Development Plan, which guides local decision making on planning matters in the parish.  It also helped launch the Lavenham Community Land Trust, the Good Neighbour Scheme and more recently the Lavenham Dementia Alliance – all three initiatives aimed at enhancing the day to day lives of local people.  Past initiatives include the building of Lavenham’s Sports Pavilion, Village Hall and Pre-school.

Lavenham Parish Council meets on the first Thursday of every month in the Guildhall at 7.30 pm.  Members of the public are welcome to attend and to raise issues with the parish council.  The LPC website gives more information and links at –
