Wool Towns and Historic Houses

Steeped in rich heritage and culture, our neighbouring Wool Towns are most certainly worthy of a visit.

Long Melford is a bustling village, with the longest high street in England and is home to two historic houses Melford Hall (National Trust) and Kentwell Hall. From music and food festivals, to Tudor re-enactments and spooky Scaresville there is always something happening at Kentwell Hall so do check their events page.

Clare is the smallest town in Suffolk which boasts a magnificent ‘wool’ church, a tranquil Priory, the remains of a Castle set in a country park and a fine Ancient House Museum.

Hadleigh is a pretty market town and has some architecture of real character such as The Guildhall, impressive St Mary’s Church with Deanery Tower.  You will also find the oldest Medieval bridge in Suffolk which is still in use to this day!
